Everything is illuminated by light, or consumed by shadow...
I’ve always loved old paintings - Renaissance, Classicism, Romanticism, Impressionism, the Danish Golden Age, etc. But it was a trip to the UK and visits to its museums when I was able to be inches away from them and ‘feel’ the light and shadows in the paintings that brought them to life, made them warm and gave them depth.
It's light and shadows that tell stories, convey emotion and lead the viewer to the right conclusions. As a cinematographer, I try to understand each nuance of the story being told and then decide - What colors should be used? How much contrast should we see? Where should shadows fall? What is the frame and how should the camera move?
Beyond the creative, I bring experience with every aspect of video production: Planning, scheduling, hiring, budgeting, editing, coloring, etc.
