In this video we’ll look at a 3-point lighting setup for film and video and see some behind-the-scenes shots to see just how we get this kind of high-key, low-contrast look for commercial clients.  

As cinematographers, we need to understand light - where it comes from, how it’s shaped and how we can use it. In this video and blog post I share some pictures I’ve taken where I’ve been paying attention to the lighting so that I can better understand how to replicate it in my own work.

Your job as a cinematographer is not to know everything about everything. But one of your jobs is to know how to handle unexpected things on set. This comes with time and experience. I have some tips to share from my own time coming up and learning. I’m hoping they can help others too.
